Trento, 16 April 2025 – The Cassa Centrale Group's commitment to the implementation and development of initiatives for environmental and social sustainability is growing. The annual “good practices” survey, now in its fourth edition, promotes the mutual exchange of information and contributes to concretely enhancing cooperative principles.
Together with EURICSE – a foundation for research, training and consultancy in the field of cooperative and social enterprises and other non-profit organisations of a productive nature – the Group has updated the mapping of environmental and social initiatives implemented by its affiliated banks and controlled companies as well as by the parent company. The well-established collaboration between EURICSE and Cassa Centrale aims to enhance sustainability as a concrete implementation of cooperative values and principles, for the well-being of territories and communities.
Good environmental practices
The analysis reveals a growing focus on reducing environmental impact, with the installation of 114 car charging stations and 100 charging stations for bicycles (+7% compared to 2023).At the same time, the Group’s banks and companies have consolidated the modernisation of company fleets: almost 93% of owned or long-term rental cars are Euro 6, hybrid or electric, continuing on the path of a gradual transition towards more sustainable mobility. In addition, 73 properties were involved in energy upgrades, while solar photovoltaic systems were installed on 134 properties (123 in 2023).All interventions were aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving the sustainability of buildings, in line with the Group's ecological transition and environmental responsibility objectives.
The commitment to the environment is significant, with the planting of 12,000 trees, in part thanks to the large project for the reforestation of the Redebus Pass, which will lead to the capture of over 300 tonnes of CO₂ in 13 years.
Good social practices
The 65 Credito Cooperativo Banks, Casse Rurali and Raiffeisenkassen affiliates of the Cassa Centrale Group are an integral part of the communities in which they operate: this is demonstrated by the more than 1,300 partnerships that have been established with schools, local authorities and the private sector. For society at large, during 2024 49 Banks and the Parent Company organised training and information meetings and events, especially of a cultural and economic-financial nature, or aimed at disseminating the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda. In 2024, over 300 projects involved financial education initiatives, with almost 24,000 participants.
The focus on young people is evident from numerous initiatives, including the promotion of specific projects aimed at the development and support of youth entrepreneurship and the disbursement of scholarships, from which more than 3,400 people benefitted.
Social sustainability is also manifested through the establishment of its own Third Sector Entities: at the end of 2024, a total of 42 Entities were established (3 more than in 2023) in various legal forms, such as mutual societies and foundations; the activities promoted mainly concern the cultural, recreational, social and health areas. Over 40 banks provide the use of their premises to associations and organisations.
These results confirm the commitment of the Cassa Centrale Group to a sustainable future and the well-being of the communities, in line with the cooperative values of solidarity and social responsibility.
